Low Dosage Hydrate Inhibitor

Low dosage hydrate inhibitors (LDHIs) have been used successfully for hydrate control in the petroleum industry, in addition their use has been proven to give significant advantages compared to other hydrate control methods, for example the use of traditional thermodynamic inhibitors (THIs) such as methanol or MEG. These compounds are most often water-soluble polymers and are effective at concentrations much lower than those of the TIs, e.g., less than 1 wt % of the water phase. LDHIs can be subdivided into two classes of compounds, namely (i) kinetic hydrate inhibitors (KHIs) and (ii) anti agglomerants (AAs).

  • Kinetic Hydrate Inhibitor (KHIs)

AS-150S is a high-quality kinetic hydrate inhibitor. Kinetic hydrate inhibitors (KHIs) are a class of low dosage hydrate inhibitors. KHIs are water-soluble polymers designed to delay gas hydrate formation by increasing the induction time and lowering growth rates of gas hydrates whereas in gas and oil field operations. Inhibition of growth of gas hydrate crystals is one of the mechanisms by which KHIs have been proposed to act in very low dosage (1-1.5 %wt. based on water cut) and different sub-cooling temperature.

  • Anti-agglomerants (AAs)

Anti-agglomerants (AAs). AAs work by enabling the formation of gas hydrates as a slurry of dispersed particles in the liquid hydrocarbon and/or remaining aqueous phase.
